The School of Computing & Mathematics is a leader in education, research and
scholarship offering courses at the undergraduate and post graduate levels
in Mathematics, Statistics and Computing. The School is now seeking to
expand its current academic offerings and its world class research strength
in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Technologies. The School of
Computing & Mathematics is part of a dynamic and developing College of
Health and Science that includes the Schools of Medicine, Biomedical and
Health Science, Engineering, Nursing and Midwifery, and Natural Sciences.

Applications are invited for the position of a Senior Lecturer (Level C) or
Associate Professor (Level D) in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive
Technologies to complement the existing research expertise in the School.
The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic and experienced scholar who
will be expected to take a major role in the School in leading the
development of teaching and research programs that complement and expand the
School’s existing programs in the areas of Computer Science, Information and
Communications Technology (ICT) and Applied Mathematics. We seek to appoint
an interdisciplinary scholar in Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive
Technologies, that brings together scholarship that covers artificial
intelligence, respective elements of cognitive science and technology,
combined with broad ICT experience.

Applicants must hold a PhD in Computer Science or discipline(s) related to
Artificial Intelligence and Cognitive Technologies and be able to
demonstrate the capacity to play a significant role in scholarship,
research, and professional development activities. These roles will involve
active engagement in the extension of existing and the development of a new
program of research and supervision of higher degree research students. The
applicant is expected to demonstrate an excellent leadership in curriculum
development and effective teaching for both undergraduate and postgraduate
units, as well as in the initiation of new attractive undergraduate and/or
postgraduate, as well as a proven ability to undertake and lead high quality
and independent research that has resulted in a significant internationally
recognised suite of publications, patents or other form of recognition. The
proven ability to attract competitive external research funding is
essential. The successful applicant will have a background and experience
appropriate to the leadership role envisaged.

The appointment will be for three years in the first instance, but will be
converted to a continuing position subject to evidence of establishing a
successful research program and demonstration of innovative and effective
contributions to learning and teaching. The appointee will be based at one
of the Campbelltown, Kingswood or Parramatta Campuses of UWS, but
multi-campus teaching may be required.

Remuneration Package:  Senior Lecturer (Academic Level C) $113,291 to
$129,956 p.a. (comprising Salary $95,829 to $110,073 p.a., 17%
Superannuation, and Leave Loading);  Associate Professor (Academic Level D)
$135,508 to $148,834 p.a. (comprising Salary $114,818 to $126,208 p.a., 17%
Superannuation, and Leave Loading)
