The specifications relate to version 2.0 of the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), which provides an XML-based framework for creating and exchanging security information between online partners. The reviews end 9 Feb. http://www.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/200712/msg00004.html ------------------------------------------------------------------- WS-TX TC approves Errata Participants in the OASIS Web Services Transaction (WS-TX) TC have approved Errata for WS-AtomicTransaction 1.1, WS-BusinessActivity 1.1, and WS-Coordination 1.1. These protocols are designed to coordinate the outcome of distributed application actions. http://www.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/200712/msg00003.html ------------------------------------------------------------------- Public review begins for WebCGM 2.0 Errata 02 The OASIS CGM Open WebCGM TC has approved WebCGM version 2.0 Errata 02 as a Committee Draft and submitted it for public review. WebCGM, a profile of ISO's Computer Graphics Metafile, is optimized for Web applications in technical illustration, electronic documentation, geophysical data visualization, and similar fields. The review ends 29 Dec. http://www.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/200712/msg00005.html ------------------------------------------------------------------- Provisioning Services TC approves SPML 2.0 Errata Participants in the OASIS Provisioning Services TC have approved the Service Provisioning Markup Language (SPML) version 2.0 Errata. SPML provides an XML framework for managing the provisioning and allocation of identity information and system resources within and between organizations. http://www.oasis-open.org/archives/tc-announce/200712/msg00006.html ------------------------------------------------------------------- OASIS Open Standards Day Beijing attracts record numbers OASIS executives and members participated in two events last month to promote the use of open standards in China. The 'Beijing 2007 Open Standards International Meeting' and the 'OASIS Open Standards Day' explored the promises and challenges of open standards, open source software and SOA. Over 400 delegates attended the events, which were jointly sponsored by Changfeng Alliance, Beijing Software Industry Productivity Center and OASIS with support from the Ministry of Information Industry, the Ministry of Science & Technology, the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Committee, the China Electronic Standardization Institute and the China National Institute of Standardization. A meeting of the OASIS Board of Directors was graciously hosted by Changfeng Alliance, Beijing Sursen, and eBridge. Conference presentations from representatives of OASIS, ITU, W3C, LISA, OGC, the Linux Foundation, Microsoft, Sun, Adobe, and many others are now available online. http://www.bsw.gov.cn/v/showNews_sjj_en.jsp?NewsID=110251 ------------------------------------------------------------------- Companies support Member Sections through new program The consortium has formalized a new program to encourage organizations and individuals to advance the work of OASIS Member Sections by underwriting specific activities. Donors may contribute any amount to the OASIS CGM Open, eGov, Emergency Interoperability, IDtrust, LegalXML, or Open CSA Member Sections. Donations may be used for specific purposes, such as to defer meeting expenses, produce educational materials, hire program managers, etc. or to support general activities of a Member Section. An OASIS member who donates 5,500 USD or more annually (in addition to their OASIS Foundational or Sponsor-level dues) may have their organization's logo linked from every page of the Member Section's web site. http://www.oasis-open.org/who/ms-supporter.php ------------------------------------------------------------------- TAB ballot closes soon Two candidates, Frank McCabe and David RR Webber, have accepted nominations to fill a vacated seat on the OASIS Technical Advisory Board. The TAB provides guidance on issues related to strategy, process, interoperability, and scope of OASIS technical work. Each OASIS Foundational, Sponsor, and Contributor member organization is asked to cast a ballot in the election, which is underway now and will close 4 Jan. http://www.oasis-open.org/archives/members/200712/msg00004.html ------------------------------------------------------------------- SOA vendor discount to exhibit at Open Standards 2008 ends soon The 'Open Standards 2008: Composability within SOA' Symposium will feature a tabletop exhibit hall for SOA product and service providers. Companies that reserve space by 15 January will receive a 1,000 USD discount. The event, which is sponsored by BEA Systems, EDS, IBM, Primeton, SAP, and Sun Microsystems, will be held in Santa Clara, California, 28 April through 1 May.
